The Molecular Targeting area focuses in elucidating the mechanisms associated with pathophysiological processes, in order to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in different pathologies, and to identify and characterize new therapeutic targets.

Strategies to generate and/or improve therapeutic drugs require a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms to identify possible targets. Therefore, the area focuses on the molecular mechanisms controlling several fundamental cellular processes such as post-translational modifications, signal transduction and degradation pathways.

In order to achieve these goals and identify new targets a wide range of experimental models (cell clones, animal models and patient samples) are used, in combination with state-of-the-art molecular and cellular biology tools.
