It will take place from April 22 to 24 and will feature prominent scientists from the Max Planck Society and Argentine research centers.

Organized by the Instituto de Investigación en Biomedicina de Buenos Aires (IBioBA), partner of the Max Planck Society in Argentina, the fifth edition of the Frontiers in Biosciences Symposium will take place from Wednesday, April 22 to Friday, April 24 at DESEO Cultural Center, CABA.

Coordinated scientifically by Dr. Moritz Helmstaedter, director of the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research, and Dr. Damián Refojo, principal investigator at CONICET and director of IBioBA, the three-day meeting will cover current topics in the field of biosciences with leading scientists from the Max Planck Society in Germany and renowned researchers from Argentine institutions.

On this occasion, two public lectures will be given by Andrea Gamarnik, senior researcher at CONICET and head of the Molecular Virology Laboratory at the Leloir Institute, and Peter Mombaerts, director of the Max Planck Unit of Neurogenetics, on the scientific response to infectious diseases.

There will also be poster sessions for doctoral and postdoctoral students and researchers to present their research work, and travel grants will be available for students from the interior of the country and Mercosur.

The meeting, organized as part of the activities of the Biomedicine Network – FOCEM – Mercosur, will be held at the Deseo Buenos Aires Cultural Center, located at Av. Chorroarín 1040, CABA.

Registration

Registration is free according to the room capacity.

The form will close once the maximum capacity has been reached.

Posters

The Symposium will have poster sessions to present ongoing research. Those who wish to participate should register through the form including title, authors and an abstract in English of up to 1,500 characters, for the selection of posters.

Grant application
If you are a doctoral or postdoctoral student in biological/biomedical or related sciences at a university in the interior of Argentina or in a Mercosur country, you can apply for a travel and accommodation grant to participate in the Symposium.

Requirements

  • Be pursuing a PhD or postdoctoral degree in biosciences,
  • Present a poster at the Symposium (in English),
  • Submit a letter of intent specifying the reasons for applying for the scholarship (up to 2,000 characters).

 

The grant will cover only transportation and lodging expenses.
