With a room full of doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and young researchers, the third edition of the IBioBA Student Workshop was held.
On Wednesday, September 17, the third edition of the IBioBA Student Workshop: “Cell Communication and Signal Transduction” was held at the Science Cultural Center (C3), where the latest advances in this field of research were presented.
The meeting, organized by fellows from the Institute as part of the MERCOSUR Structural Convergence Fund (FOCEM) Biomedicine Network Project, in which IBioBA participates, was designed especially for advanced doctoral and postdoctoral students.
During the workshop, the latest regional advances in cell communication and signaling, microenvironment interaction, signaling in immunology and cancer, and plasticity and evolution in cancer were discussed.
The workshop was divided into four sessions in which doctoral students and guest researchers from different parts of the region gave presentations: Mariana Salatino, from the Institute of Biology and Experimental Medicine (IBYME, CONICET, Argentina); Lysangela Ronalte Alves, from FIOCRUZ, Brazil; and José Badano, from the Pasteur Institute of Uruguay.
In addition, two poster sessions were held to encourage peer exchange, where participants presented the results of their ongoing work.
It should be noted that the workshop was attended by six students from Brazil, Uruguay, and Paraguay, who received scholarships from IBioBA through FOCEM – Mercosur, and who also presented their work in short talks or poster format.
