Our Institute was present at the ceremony held by the City of Buenos Aires to recognize Dr. Tomás Pförtner as a “Distinguished Personality in the Field of Health” for his extensive professional, academic, and scientific career in the field of contactology and ophthalmology. Dr. Eduardo Arzt, founder of IBioBA, greeted and congratulated Dr. Pförtner on behalf of the entire Institute.
Tomás Pförtner is a member of the IBioBA Board of Trustees, a group of renowned specialists from various disciplines whose objective is to establish and strengthen the Institute’s relationship with the public and society. Its members contribute to publicizing the Institute’s activities and research, and play an important role in establishing relationships with other institutes and organizations.
The ceremony took place in the Golden Hall of the Buenos Aires Legislature, where speeches were given by the deputy and author of the bill, Paola Michielotto; Alberto Levy, who holds a degree in economics and psychology; Pablo Chiaradía, MD and Head of Ophthalmology at the Hospital de Clínicas (UBA); Fernán Quirós, Minister of Health of the City; and the honoree himself.
About Pförtner
Tomás Pförtner is an optician specializing in contact lenses, a doctor of economics, and a founding member of the Argentine Society of Contactology, an institution he has presided over on several occasions. A university professor, researcher, and international lecturer, he has published scientific papers and reference books in his field. He received the silver medal of merit from the VDC (Germany) and an honorary doctorate from the University of Morón. His innovative contributions to the clinical application of contact lenses have made him an undisputed leader in visual health.
