About 40 students from careers related to biomedicine spent an afternoon getting to know the Institute and the research topics that are carried out in “IBioBA Open Doors #IPA2025”.

On Friday, April 25, IBioBA Open Doors #IPA2025 was held for the first time, a meeting designed exclusively for undergraduate students to approach the Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Buenos Aires (IBioBA, CONICET-Max Planck) and learn about its lines of research.

During the meeting, the participants were able to listen to brief presentations on the work of all the research groups of the institute; they got to know the facilities of IBioBA and the Bionanosciences Research Center (CIBION), and saw what a day’s work in the laboratories is like, including the areas of flow cytometry and confocal microscopy.

In addition, the students participated in a conversation with doctoral fellows, where they were able to exchange ideas and ask questions about their experience at the institute in a relaxed manner.

The objective of this meeting is to open the doors to students who are looking for a space to carry out their doctoral, postdoctoral, graduate thesis, or even an internship.

“We are very happy because we received a lot of interest from undergraduate students of all ages. These types of activities are very important for IBioBA, as they allow us to approach and guide students who are still not sure how to continue their academic life. It is also an opportunity to show them a space of academic and scientific excellence to those who imagine working in the institute’s areas of competence”, said Damián Refojo, director of IBioBA.
