The IBioBA is a member of FOCEM-MERCOSUR Biomedicine Network created in 2011, involving research Institutes of Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina. In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, FOCEM-Mercosur approved to provide the Network with specific funds (US $ 16 million) that will be used entirely for the coordinated fight against COVID-19, mainly for the diagnostic including the development of new tests, in Argentina through IBioBA’s participation in the COVID-19 Unit of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MinCyT). In coordination with the Ministry of Health, the reagents obtained by this initiative (first founds of 1.2 millions-USD to Argentina) will be provided by the MinCyT to the diagnostic reference centers for epidemiological testing of Covid-19.
