On Thursday, November 30, the annual meeting of the Foundation for the support of the Instituto de Biomedicina de Buenos Aires – CONICET – Partner Institute of the Max Planck Society of Germany (IBioBA – CONICET – MPSP). The annual meeting brought together science, technology and private company’s leaders.

Dr. Diego Golombek was in charge of the welcome and the presentation of the Foundation. He explained to the attendants the different research lines and groups that work at IBioBA.

After, Dr. Herbert Jäckle, former director of the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry and former vice-president of the Max Planck Society (MPS) of Germany, explained the story and working philosophy of the MPS, as well as the importance of interdisciplinary work with research group throughout the world and the importance for the MPS of the IBioBA Partner Institute.

Later Dr. Jens Brüning, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Metabolic Research, gave a lecture on diabetes, its metabolic bases and how the discoveries of basic science can reach patients.

The Foundation for the support of the IBioBA is a non-profit organization, created in 2010 and which aims at supporting the activities of the Institute, its research lines and the training of human resources.
